Amelie Marries Morocco

When Mazen asked his girlfriend, Sara, if she was interested in seeing a sneak preview of a new movie, she readily accepted. Mazen is a careful listener and when Sara mentioned a few months earlier how much she adored the movie, Amelie, he took note. After the couple took their seats that evening in the empty movie theater, Sara began to question whether or not this movie would be any good, since no one was there. Just then, the movie screen projected, “Sara, will you marry me?” Amidst the cheers of the theater employees in the projector booth, Sara accepted and was then treated to a private screening of none other than Amelie. Aren't you dying over how cute this is?

Mazen knew he would have to do some serious planning for their wedding to exude the same romance and creativity that his proposal had. That's where Mint Julep Social Event's Michelle Buckley stepped in!

We jumped on board and began with their customized design concept which incorporated their Lebanese heritage with their affinity for Moroccan and Mediterranean decor. We set the scene with rich reds and burnt oranges. The ceremony site was a magical little garden with iron shepherd hooks holding stained glass lanterns in a beautiful array of colors. The bride and groom stood atop a Persian rug during their ceremony and were framed by a beautiful iron arch (which we later used to frame the cake) while a string quartet played the score from Amelie (nice touch!).

The bride was absolutely stunning in a Reem Acra dress and her dashing fiance was clad in a gorgeous John Varvatos suit. Stylish! Cocktail hour dazzled guests with a Moroccan style lounge featuring poufs and pillows covering the floor and a dozen or so hookahs carefully placed on ornate side tables for guests to enjoy.

Sara and Mazen waltzed to “La Vie en Rose” then made way for a surprise belly dancing floorshow which segued into the dancing portion of the evening. The couple’s ornate wedding cake garnered much attention throughout the evening, but the red velvet filling exceeded all expectations. And, as if all this wasn't enough, Sara & Mazen surprised their guests with an interactive ice cream bar and beautiful Olive Oil favors. C'est si bon!
